My Best Side. Image courtesy of Justin Minns.

I'm a retired automotive designer by day and a photographer in the early morning. I first picked up a camera in the mid-1980s, whilst working in North America: I’m a self-taught photographer who has always enjoyed being creative. My photography explores the material of the Landscape, in both its natural and man made beauty.
For nearly 30 years, I used a combination of Canon film and digital technology to create my vision.
The traditional enlarger and those trays of chemicals have long since been abandoned. The tools have changed many times, but as ever that human element of creativity has been paramount.
In recent times however, health issues brought me to a point where amongst other things I nearly gave up Photography altogether. I won’t bore you with the whole story but there was a constant niggling question as to where my Photography was going as I tried to find a path through the responsibilities and stresses of everyday life.
I gave away my Canon DSLRs and purchased a Fuji X-T10 and began taking walks in a local wood that I had known as a child. I fell in love with Photography again. My work has now taken a more personal path that you could well say is a woodland track. The solace found in an early morning walk within the woodland has been a therapy for me. There is a Japanese practice called Shinrin-yoku which in English translates as “forest bathing”. I’m currently taking a very long bath.
I live in South Woodham Ferrers, Essex, England.
